The acclaimed author, Washington correspondent for the Nation, and media critic John Nichols wrote a book entitled: The Genius of Impeachment. The author Studs Terkel said about this book: “Never within my memory has the case for impeachment of Bush and his equally crooked confederates been so clearly and fervently offered as John Nichols has done in this book. They are after all our public SERVANTS who have rifled our savings, bled our young, and challenged our sanity. And Nichols has given us the history, the language and the arguments we will need to do so.”
John Nichols had come to San Francisco just before the November 2006 election to urge the group of friends who had gathered to meet him that the real political work was to begin on the day after the election. And that work would be – he suggested – to bring about the impeachment of Bush and Cheney.
Recorded by Maria Gilardin in San Francisco, November 1, 2006.
