Hans von Sponeck resigned in protest from his United Nations position as Assistant Secretary General and Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq that he held from 1998-2000. He now travels internationally, speaking in churches and schools, appealing for compassion and understanding of the plight of an innocent population. On the ground, in Baghdad, he observed first hand schools without windows and books, and children dying of preventable diseases.
